Magic Carpet Ride was an early #3 single by Steppenwolf, and served, years later, as the title for the band's leader's autobiography, Magic Carpet Ride. John Kay has other stories to tell in his book, other than his success with Steppenwolf. Kay has a place of prominence in the Canadian rock world, with Neil Young, in his own autobiography, stating he was influenced by Kay's guitar playing style.
